Saturday Night, How About a Book Review? No? Too bad.

Lost It by Kirstin Tracy is obviously a Young Adult book (those are my favorite) about a High School Junior named Tess. From the get-go, her life is quite odd yet very familiar. She lives in a house with a religious mother and father, but they aren't completely and utterly zealous about it. She also has this crazy, insane, mad but completely normal best friend who has very large plans to destroy a poodle, which really turns out to be her resentment to her father and his new wife plus child. So, not only does Tess have to worry about her bff who's gone totally bonkers, she's got her parents to worry about, too. Her mother, randomly I should add, kind of loses it. She gathers her things, mostly shoes, and carries them out to a river near their home. Tess helps her, not sure what in the world is going on. Then, suddenly, her mother starts throwing the shoes into the river and packs up her things and flees to Utah (Utah, I mean....I may be biased, but that made me happy to see). She goes there because an inspirational writer has a camp going down out in the desert, and her mother feels that it's time she had some adventure in her life. Her father quickly follows, leaving her with her only care taker, her Grandmother. This Grandma is hip and really helps Tess break out of her comfort zone, especially when it comes to her new beau, Ben. He's very mature and a diabetic, and Tess seems to use that to her advantage, especially when she lies and says she's diabetic as well, automatically giving them both something in common. But there's this thing about Tess, she's afraid of the wild life, such as nature and what not...and she's also not one to have sex before marriage, but Ben changes all that. She loves him, and he loves her, so with the help of her Grandma, (whom buys sexy bras for her granddaughter, awkward yet hilarious) Tess loses it. But things spiral downward for her, yet with her humor and optimism (it slowly works its way in), she attempts to fix the damage she's done. There's nothing like getting a hamster stuck in your cast, or having your shoes explode. Just ask Tess Whistle.

Forecast: Busy with a Chance of Lame

I have a way of putting a lot on my plate, and, well, I've done just that. Let me tell you about how busy I've forced myself to be. At least if you don't count the procrastinating, since I do that a lot.

First off, I'm writing two oneshots for the Jekyll and Cullen contest. My oneshots are usually long, and depending on how motivated and inspired I am, they don't take long to finish. I'm hoping to get my first oneshot done by Monday, and then hopefully jump into my next one.

If I'm not jumping into the next one it's because I'm working on Losing Signal. I actually want to pre-write some chapters for LS, which I will explain in a bit.

I'm also working on a new story. I have the first chapter written and beta'd a gazillion times, but I will not be posting it until I get at least 5 chapters written. So, if I want to post it sooner rather then later I really need to get writing for that.

But, I only have a month to accomplish all this. Why? Well, in April I'm taking on Script Frenzy.

Script Frenzy is a thing that goes along with National Novel Writing Month. I participated in that back in November and had a blast, but mostly because I was doing it with friends. This year it's just me (unless I find someone) and it may be a little more challenging, seeing as how I've never written a script before. I'm excited to be challenging myself and seeing if maybe script writing is for me. But I'm going a month without writing fanfic, therefore I need to have something to update. I'm willing to suffer a month to gain a month of fun.

When I'm not busy with writing, I'm usually beta'ing, tweeting on twitter, chatting on skype, doing stupid things, eating, sleeping, watching a movie or two.

Other writing things that are out there: Coffee Break, Flesh & Blood, and my TT25 prompts.

*sigh* March, please be kind to me.

Confessions of a Lazy, Wanting, Needing, Bum

It's Monday. Almost 5pm, however, by the time I've finished this blog and posted it it'll be about almost six. I really should not be doing this, I should be writing chapter two of Flesh and Blood (No! that is not a link! How dare you accuse me of such things! ;P) because we haven't updated for a month. Today, this day, it's a month. Happy anniversary Jenny Bear! Our first collab and we've managed to fail at it. Joy to the world, we suck ass. Ah, yes. Oh well. They've waited a month, they can wait a few more days. I have written something today, so I'm not a complete waste of space. Except, what I did write was very bad and not useful. If you know me, or at least know me enough, then you'll know I want to write a Mike-central fic. Why? Because I love Mike.

<-- Look at that face.

Hot...compared to that face:
A REAL Mike Newton -->

Haha, he's got Tom from Myspace pose going on. The over the shoulder look. Mmm...yes.

Now that I'm done posting pictures of men that slightly creep me out, I'll get on with it. So basically, writing a fic about Mike is on my to do before I die list. I'm not sure why, really, I'm not. I even want to do one about Jessica. I guess I'm just a fan of the 'humans.' Sorry, SM. Your Edwiener could never do it for me the way he probably should. But I actually like me not really liking Edward, so I guess it's a double win for me. I'd prefer someone non-sparkly like Mike, or Jacob, or Alec...wait... Let's just pretend he doesn't sparkle, deal? Now, I have about a gazillion documents that start off with Mike, but they always fail. Just yesterday I wrote a prologue for a semi-story about Mike, but that failed. FAILURE IS FAIL.
/rant.

I just want to write about Mike and be happy. Is that so much to ask?

Now, a word from my sponsor, Pedobear.

Books are Love

I don't blog much, which I will slowly try & change. But for now, let's do some book/movie rec's.

Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott is a unique, twisted, and dark book. I bet at first you'd think something zombie-esque, but you'd be wrong. This has nothing to do with horror or monsters, well that depends on what you classify as monsters. It's about a girl named Alice, however, that is not her real name. She was kidnapped when she was only 10 by a man named Ray. There's no reason as to way he picked 'Alice', just that she was alone and lost. Ray has a fetish for little girls, but he thinks what he's doing is good for Alice. She, on the other hand, has basically given all hope. She does what he wants, she comforts him when he beats her and it's an all-around tragic story that is not meant for some who cannot handle the bad things in life. The chapters are short, as is the book. Depending on how fast you read, this book could be finished in an hour. The ending was unbelieveable heartbreaking but you can't help but to rejoice. I wouldn't suggest this book to everyone, only those who can handle the darker side of life. Lei, sisterhoodfan, read this book, she did not like it. This book is indeed fucked up, but it's amazing and real. If one were to read this book, they'd be forever touched and more aware of life. But I do rec it to those willing to read; and those mature enough. I wouldn't want someone under the age of 13 reading this. It's too much to take in, but it's worth it in the end run.

The Screwed Up Life of Charlie the Second by Drew Ferguson is a odd little book. It's about Charlie (clearly) and how his life is screwed up. Can't get much more obvious then that ;) Charlie is gay, and he's a geek. He one of those boys that stick out like sore thumb, but not in a good way. He's got his eyes set on the new boy, who also is gay. The main goal of this book is Charlie trying to define who he is in an essay. After getting busted by the cops at a party, his father forces him to write one. (At this point, I'm wishing I re-read it.) Rob, the new boy/soccer star/Charlie's new boyfriend is a fun character. He's used to being gay and being with other boys, therefore he's able to teach Charlie a few things about the naughty things in life. You instantly love Rob because he's down to earth and happens to make Charlie happy. (You'll love Charlie more, just saying.) Rob's mother is sick, and when she dies and Charlie confesses that Rob's father might have killed her on purpose, a shit load of things go down. But, I'm keeping my mouth shut. Charlie's just dealing with life, like we we all are, but from his eyes it's more fun and more real. This book is a Young Adult type, and mostly met for us teens, unless parents like this stuff. I'd say it's worth reading. Waring: Butt sex and blowjobs.

Pwnage Day <3

If I called and said hello and shared the secrets that I hold, would you run or stay with me tonight? My world holds your weight boy; my world holds your weight. You'll be gone in the morning, so call back today.”
Exorcise Demons; The Forecast

I remember the first time I learned what ‘cannibal’ meant. It was a Friday night and my friend Anna was spending the night. We were about twelve at the time. This was the first time I saw her since I was maybe ten or eleven, seeing as how she lived in Kearns and I lived in North Salt Lake City.

It’s about an hour or two drive. Maybe less. I haven’t been to Kearns in years so I forget. Anyways, so she was over at my house/duplex spending the night. And what’s a sleepover without a scary movie? Our only issue was that we didn’t own any scary movies, okay, maybe a few. But not any good ones. Then my mom was like. I know one!

Of course I thought it looked lame. I was twelve! But my mom told me what was about.
“What’s a canon ball?” I asked. Yes. Like that.
“A cannibal is someone who eats another,” my friend Anna replied.
I was fucked up at that age too so therefore we watched it. I loved it. The newer version is a little bit better but nothing can ever beat a classic right? Right. Plus it’s Wes Craven..hello? God!

But nothing can beat my God.

I kiss his talons! Or whatever those things are.

It’s New Years Eve!! Another year gone, another year comes.
What be my resolutions you ask? Let’s make a list…
1. Do something drastic with my real outside life.
2. Do better in school.
3. Get a bigger vocabulary (for writing reasons)
4. Get a job.
5. Go to a fat camp XD (gotta find one first)

That’s about it. Hmm. There’s probably more somewhere. I should probably shut up now.

I leave you with this. (Go pause the awesome song(s) coming out of the player :D)

I’m blogging. Wow.
So, it’s been about two weeks in for NaNoWriMo and I’ve got 35,000 words written. I’m planning on getting to 50k by next week. And for those asking why I’m this far a head – here is your answer.

Reasons Why Brittany Is Writing Like A Maniac

1.She’s competitive.
2.She’s moving around the 20th.
3.She wants to write some one-shots for some contests.
4.She’s competitive.
5.She never said her novel would be done at 50k.
6.She likes being head in the pack.
7.She’s already played her book in her head like a movie – so she knows what to do.
8.She’s winging it – randomness = work count helper
9.She’s competitive.
10.She’s the Zombie God. That’s what she does.

Yep. I’m moving next week to so I really need to start writing now. I’m planning on packing this weekend. It won’t take long. Maybe just about an hour – for my room at least. I have the most boring room ever. But we’re moving to a house with Becca (my mom’s best friend) Marty is getting kicked out, thank god.

Anyways, I’ve decided to post some ABS fun. (A Bright Side)

All in all this is what we think Skylar look likes (we being the people who found some of them *coughDimmiecough*)

Yep. We can’t find a pic of Elliot so forget about that. :)

Preview – Chapter Seven - Skylar

Skylar swallowed back the bile she could feel. She sat beside Elliot who was angled towards her. He pulled both her hands into his and stared at the them.
“Sky, we can’t keep doing this,” he whispered.
Her eyes went wide. “What?”
His eyes snapped up to her blues. “I can’t love someone who can’t be honest with me.”
“I am honest with you,” she lied. She choked on a sob as soon as she realized what she had said.
“Fine then. Tell me where these came from.” He grabbed the sleeves of her jacket and pushed them up but kept her wrists locked in his grasp as she tried to pull away. He extended her arms out and stared at the lines on both of them. “How’d you get these?”
Skylar shook her head, tears filling her eyes. “How’d you know about them?”
“After our date. You were sleeping and I was looking at you, admiring you, but then I saw these.”
“There nothing,” she whispered – more lies.
“STOP!” Elliot screamed. “Stop lying to me!”
Skylar’s eyes watered and her sore mouth trembled. “I’m not.”
“You just did it again!” he accused.
She shook her head.
“Skylar, why won’t you tell me anything? I thought you loved me.”
“I do!” she quickly said. “I love you so much.”
“Prove it,” he growled, his own eyes watering.
“I can’t,” she whispered, a tear falling. Elliot laughed without humor and pulled away from her, letting her hands drop lifelessly in her lap. He walked away, one hand wrapped around his waist while the other cupped his face.
“Why are you doing this?” he asked.

:) There you go, keep ya guessing. However, Zee (IChimpz) was stalking me on skype so she knows how this chapter ends.

Well, I made an attempt to put every cover art I have made that is still on my computer on this thing but it would not do what I wanted so that sucks :)

Anways. Toooootles.

National Novel Writing Month

I have decided to venture into a once a year thing.

Goal: Write 50,000 words in one month.

I know it will be hard but it may be worth it. Time to step away from all that is fanfiction and work on something original for once. I am so excited.

www.nanowrimo.org :)

More info and even chapters of my story will be added later.
